Supercross Round 6: Minneapolis, MN
Sub-zero temperatures would welcome the worlds best Supercross athletes as they would arrive in Minneapolis, Minnesota for Round 6 of the 2019 Monster Energy AMA World Supercross Championship. The two-thousand mile journey from round 5 and the Arctic weather upon arrival was a challenge for each and every team. The TXS Race Team of Joan Cros, Theodore Pauli, Jason Watkins, and Scotty Wennerstrom would all fight adversity and arrive just in time for race day!
At round 6, Spanish native Joan Cros would make his 2019 450SX debut on board his Kawasaki KX450. Theodore Pauli would be coming off a season best finish at Round 5 and Scotty Wennerstrom would be ready for breakout performance.
The tight and technical race track built inside U.S. Bank Stadium created for some highly competitive qualifying sessions. The first time on the track the order would go; Pauli, Wennerstrom then Cros. Two sessions later, as the track deteriorated and the racing lines changed it would be Wennerstrom who topped the team. He would finish the 5th in his group and 24th overall, a seasons best! Cros and Pauli would qualify close behind in the 28th and 33rd position.
When it was time for the heat races, Wennerstrom and Cros lined up in Heat 1 where they would battle each other along with 18 other racers. The teammates would finish alongside each other in 13th and 14th positions. In Heat 2, Pauli raced hard but unfortunately due to a late race crash he would finish in the 16th position.
Up next was the LCQ. Cros would tear down the start straight and would be the first into turn one but an overly aggressive pass attempt from another racer put Cros and two others on the ground, eliminating their chances at a qualifying for the main event. Teammates, Wennerstrom and Pauli would find themselves battling each other as they sliced their way through the pack. While turning the third fastest lap time of the race, Wennerstrom would cross the finish line in the 6th position with Pauli just behind in the 7th spot.
Healthy and positive the three rider team is ready to keep the momentum going this weekend for Round 7 in Dallas, Texas. As always the team would like to thank each and every individual involved in their program!
